TTFN-Ta ta for now!

Well, this weekend we finally said goodbye to the old team. We all went to Nairobi, the new team to renew our visas and the old team to fly home. We got our tourist visas renewed with no problem and the paperwork to get resident alien visas are filed, which could mean they'll be ready tomorrow or in three months depending on well, a lot of things.

We had one last party Friday night, with frisbee, cheeseburgers and some speeches, then the first group flew out Saturday and the next Sunday after we'd already started back home. It didn't feel too dfficult for me to say goodbye, mostly because it feels like I'll see them in a week or so. It hasn't sunk in yet that I might not get to see any of them again till heaven, but I know once it does I'll be crying like a baby. Each of them played a part in my transition here and there's definitely a hole where they used to be.

As we processed with one of our leaders, I realized how much we have depended on them the last three months. The very fact that I felt a little scared by the idea of living here without them shows how much I leaned on them. The next few weeks will truly test how well our team has adapted to this culture and we will either become confident and comfortable or reclusive and terrified!

The last few mornings as I've prayed and spent time with God, I've left feeling courageous and strengthened by his presence and I know that as long as I continue to rest in him and seek his face, I will not be defeated. After all, he is the one who called me to live here and to serve as a missionary. I know he will not leave me to figure this out on my own. Praise God!
