Countdown

The days are slipping away quickly as I approach my departure date, January 17th.
It was really good to celebrate Christmas with family and strange to think that next year I will be so far away from home.
I just keep praying that I will be able to appreciate what God has blessed me with here without depending on any of it. It could be so easy to grow attached to the ease of life in the US; the overabundance and overindulgence is becoming commonplace in my mind and that is a terrifying thing! So I'm partially relieved this waiting time is coming to an end, and obviously a little jittery about what the next two weeks hold...check that, the next 9 days! Sneaky clock tickin away...

If you have a chance to shout out to Jesus for me, these are some things on my heart and mind...
-Travel...I'm taking a chain saw with me which by itself could create some interesting challenges in airports and such, as well as all the little details that go into flying half way across the world.

-Team...at this point there are 8 of us heading to Kenya instead of 9 since one of us was unable to raise the money for internship, so pray for him and also pray for team dynamics and communication. The first few weeks can be pretty rough on relationships while everyone tries to adjust and get used to each other and the new culture.Pray that we would be gracious and selfless in our dealings with each other and that we would transition quickly.

-Family...my dad is semi-unemployed right now (I won't even try and explain what that means!) and he and my mom are seriously considering moving to Washington state where there is work for him. This would mean leaving all of our family, friends and church behind and would be especially hard on my little sister who's still in high school. So pray for wisdom and peace for my family in that situation.

Thanks for reading and praying and OH! kind of a big PS...

I may or may not be updating this blog while in Kenya after all...
Depending on how sensitive information is about where we are and what were doing, and how fast/reliable the internet is where I'm staying, I may choose to communicate a different way.
Possibly through a password protected site or email...so if you don't receive my email updates, shoot me your email address and I'll add you!
Thanks again!
