Embracing Weakness

I've got some thoughts tumbling around inside my head, so let's see what comes out...

Truth: God's strength is shown in my weakness (2 Cor. 12:9)
I want to be weak so that God is strong
So I embrace weakness, only to find out that you must be strong to embrace...

Exhibit A:
Fasting.
I wake up in the morning and obey God's call to fast, and I allow myself to feel weak. But by the end of the day, it is sheer endurance and focus that keep me from breaking the fast. If I am weak-willed I will never finish a fast.

Exhibit B:
Humility.
The Lord calls me to walk in humility, so I allow myself to be misrepresented and unrecognized. But my flesh cries out to be justified and proven right, and I have to bite my tongue and beg God to renew my mind to keep from speaking in pride. If I am ruled by my desires, I will never obey God.

How on earth can I be holy?
How can I possibly embrace weakness when it takes tremendous strength to hold on?
How do I let God be the strength I need when that's the whole reason I'm fasting (or whatever) in the first place?

If the goal is to be weak so that God will be shown to be strong through my dependence on him, how do I get to that point without my own strength?

Do you know how uncomfortable it is to wait on the Lord?
If not, you should try cutting out all the numbing comforts in your life.
It will JACK YOU UP!

Check it out...let God point out everything you turn to when you are...hungry; hungry for affection, food, rest, caffeine, excitement, peace, fill in the blank.

If God is your all in all, he will satisfy those desires if you wait for him, right?
Now try actually relying on him.
If it doesn't jack you up and stir up all this junk in you, then you're not human. :)

so...how do I wait on the Lord to be strong for me if I need strength to wait?
What does that actually look like?

How do I wait on God?
